With a name like "Trebellious," it's no surprise that this co-ed a cappella group has been breaking down barriers since its inception. Founded in the spring of 2009 by Tim Smith and Evan Hass, Trebellious has grown from a small, musically minded group of friends to a strong performing force on the U of R campus, while still remaining committed to its original values of musicality and entertainment.

Trebellious offers weekly workshops open to the entire University of Rochester campus for those who wish to improve on a cappella skills and have a fun time! With a deep understanding of the importance of music education, the group is also always looking for ways to teach and share its knowledge and love of a cappella with the next generation of singers, musicians, and students.

Trebellious has performed at a wide variety of events on and off the U of R campus, including Earth Day, UR Unplugged, Water Week, and other charity events. The group also is committed to sharing its music across the Rochester community and is always looking for new performance opportunities.

With a commitment to musical excellence and entertainment, Trebellious covers a wide range of genres including classic rock, pop, rap, funk, and alternative. With a repertoire entirely student-arranged, the group performs covers of songs that are both innovative and true to the original – a rare quality in student groups. Incorporating entertaining elements like choreography and theatricality into performances, the group prides itself on its energy and crowd-pleasing methods.

Trebellious is entirely student run and directed. Outside of the a cappella realm, the group is composed of students who are involved in other activities and causes, as well as committed to their studies. Trebellious members major in subjects spanning academia, including Psychology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, and French. The group prides itself on being able to maintain academic excellence while still devoting a large amount of time to a cappella.
