Doors 4pm, Gathering 6pm

Yes, it’s hard to believe that this sort of event continues to be necessary, but sadly, it does.

Here’s what we published in March of this year…Unfortunately, things are worse. Our beloved democracy is threatened more day by day.

“You all know Abilene as a place of community, where all are welcome to enjoy music, friendship and fun together.

I say all this in preface to the following: In these highly polarized and uncertain political times, a lot of us feel lost and don’t know where to turn. Some of us fear that our democracy is under attack. Some of us fear what might happen to friends, family, and members of our community who are ostracized, bullied and threatened because of their status as citizens, their religious beliefs, sexual orientation and lifestyle. I share that same fear.

As a lot of people have expressed these feelings over the past few months, and have asked where they can turn, I certainly don't have an answer.

But...I do think it's high time we meet. It's time we gathered for a totally informal get-together to chat about the things that matter most...and it'll simply be a chance for people to come together, share thoughts, and connect.

Bring a friend, make a friend, grab a beer, a cocktail, or a glass of wine in a "no-pressure," open environment.

No agenda---Just people having a casual, but real talk about real issues.”

So...if you're free on Wed, Oct 29, we invite you to come down to Abilene Bar and Lounge, 153 Liberty Pole Way. We'll open our doors at 4pm, with the gathering taking place at 6pm...and we promise some great music will be played afterwards.
