What’s in a name? Surprisingly, a lot!

Calico Bunny is a vocal-driven “Vintage Cosmic Americana” band. Calico Bunny’s name comes from one of its members mishearing a lyric in Gram Parsons’s classic “Return of the Grievous Angel.”  The name Calico Bunny fits the band well because its Vintage Cosmic Americana sound is a direct descendant of Parsons’s own “Cosmic American Music.”    

Through its Vintage Cosmic Americana sound, Calico Bunny pays homage to and celebrates such unique and trailblazing artists as Gram Parsons, Kinky Friedman, Carl Perkins, Michael Nesmith, Kris Kristofferson, Gordon Lightfoot, and many others. Calico Bunny also performs original songs embracing the spirit of Vintage Cosmic Americana.  

The five members of Calico Bunny are Jim Bowers (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, and songwriter), Donna Carpino (background and harmony vocals) Chris DiStasio (lead guitar, lap steel guitar, mandolin, and banjo), James Warner (bass), and Mike Mattice (drums). Collectively, they bring together rich and varied musical experiences spanning an array of genres from folk to fusion jazz to country to barber shop to pop to good old rock ‘n’ roll.
