Lambert Billy

It was twenty-two years ago, a long time in a lifespan when the members of Lambert Billy recorded over twenty songs for the second in a series of solo albums by the Woody Dodge front man. The songs were at various stages of completion, some in the mixing stage others just rough tracks when the project came to a screeching halt. Flash forward 20 years to a chance meeting between producer Ken Frank, who had worked on two Woody Dodge releases and Billy. They began chatting and eventually the discussion led to Lambert Billy. Ken had played on the project and worked on the production, the two decided to head back to the studio and finish it up. Cowpunk Retro was reborn. It was hard at first, “imagine trying to get your head back to the place your were two decades earlier” Billy said, but they moved forward and the recording began to take shape. Two new songs were added “Out of Luck” and “Can’t Find Love”. Mike Iten of “Damn the Flood” was brought in on guitar along with guitarist Chris Elmore. The result can only be described as punk bluegrass. Lambert Billy will be back at Abilene Bar and Lounge on Saturday, January 31.
