The Front Porch Project Album Release Party

  • Abilene Bar & Lounge 153 Liberty Pole Way Rochester, NY, 14604 United States (map)

Doors 4pm, Music 6pm

The Front Porch Project is Son Henry (guitar, lap steel, vocals) and Elaine Verstraete (upright bass, harmony vocals), a Rochester-based Americana duo. Son's background is in blues, a two-time British Blues Award winner who's spent years on stages on both sides of the Atlantic. Elaine's roots are in bluegrass and old-time music. Put the two of them together and you get a kind of dark, gothic folk, blues and old-time traditions rubbing up against each other. On October 22, the duo celebrates the release of their second album, Americana Gothic, ten songs about memory, distance, and the staying kind of love, the kind that shows up once the excitement of youth has worn off. The title nods to Grant Wood's painting of the same name, something plain and worn that's still worth a second look.

Expect songs inspired by a grandmother's years in a Massachusetts mill, a mother's recovery from a fall, and a river that finally runs low enough to cross.

Yes, It's happening. Front Porch Project is releasing their debut album Americana Gothic and they want to celebrate it with you. Join them October 22nd, 6–9pm at Abilene Bar and Lounge for an evening of music, community, and a few surprises.

They’ll be sharing the stage with some of their favorite people: Chris & Korie Music , The Wild Blooms, and the one and only Rob Huff . This night is going to be something special.

And yes, this event doubles as a fundraiser to send Front Porch Project to NERFA. Every door donation helps get these songs in front of the people who can take them places. Come be part of it.
